006 - Devious

She was beautiful, smart, and so very perfect that he couldn't help but be in love with her.

He was devoted, generous, and would do anything for her, so she let him love her.

People didn't understand. They asked him how he could put up with her. She was manipulative, she was demanding, she laughed and mocked and belittled him. He told them he loved her.

When someone confronted her as to how horrible of her it was to make him believe she loved him, she looked at them perfectly confused and asked, "What makes you think I don't love him?"

005 - Late

005 - Late

"I'm late." She told him as she slipped in to the booth.

The man looked at her, then at his watch. "Only by five minutes."

"No. I'm late, late." She insisted, hands making vague motions in the air.

"...Okay. Well, just don't be late again." The woman cursed the stupidity of her boyfriend.

"No. I'm late as in soon I'll need to learn to knit booties." She bit out through a clenched jaw.

"You hate knitting." He said looking confused.

"...You're a little stupid aren't you?" She hit him with a menu, then hit him again for good measure. "I'm pregnant."

004 - Verbal

004 - Verbal

He said it was love at first sight for him. She said she fell in love with him the day he told her he loved her. Then they’d laugh and everyone else would look confused. What they didn’t know but what he and she did was that their first verbal exchange went something like this:

“Hi. I love you. Want to get married?” He said as he came up to where she sat in that utterly forgettable coffeehouse.

“Hi. Wow. I love you too. Sure.” She replied as she turned her head to look up at him.
The rest was history.

003 - Cards

003 - Cards

She couldn’t remember how it happened but that rainy Tuesday afternoon they ended up playing Go Fish.

No words were exchanged aside from the occasional “Got any twos?” She sighed as she gazed down at her mismatched hand. When had they become so quiet like this? She could remember always laughing and talking and just enjoying being with each other. Now they were playing Go Fish.

Just then he asked for a king and she tossed one to him. It hit him in the forehead and bounced off. They exchanged stares. They burst out laughing.

Maybe things were okay after all.

002 - Taxi

002 - Taxi

She was leaving. She was getting in that ugly, yellow, forbidding taxi and she was leaving him.

“Please, it doesn’t have to be like this.” He beseeched her.

She turned to smile at him a big, black, imposing suitcase in her hand.

“Yeah it does. I’ll send for the rest of my things.” She smiled briefly and the moment was so clichéd as to be ridiculous.

“Please. I love you.” He told her, reaching out to clasp her hand. She moved away.

“I know that Sweetheart. But it just isn’t enough is it?” She swung the door softly as she left.

001 - Immortal

001-Immortal

“Do you think that you’re immortal?” He asked her one day over breakfast.

“What the hell are you on about now?” She responded tiredly.

“The smoking.” He waved a hand as she exhaled thin grey smoke into the room. “It’s going to kill you.”

She looked at him thoughtfully, then at the cigarette in her hand. Her eyes drifted back to his and she lifted a perfect eyebrow before taking another heavy drag.

“Would it make you sad if I died?” She asked as she blew more smoke out.

“Of course.” The man scowled. “For some stupid reason I love you.”
